Hey-hey, can you hear anything I say?
Any given Confirmation meeting or youth group gathering, I feel like I’m saying this. My Confirmation kids just enjoy talking more than they enjoy listening. I don’t want to be too mean about it, cause then the kids won’t want to come to youth group. So sometimes I’m mean and loose my patience. But more often than not, I allow some tangents to happen. And I sometimes wonder if anything I’m doing is doing any good - especially at youth group. Cause I feel that even when I do get the chance to cover the topic of the night, they aren’t really paying attention.
This past Wednesday, God sent a parent my way to prove me wrong. One of my kids said he wants to go to NCYC (National Catholic Youth Conference) in November. He’s willing to make this trip both his birthday present and Christmas present! All of this coming from a kid who has some mental issues and tries to avoid people. This time last year, he probably wouldn’t even touch the idea of it with a ten food pole! Apparently, whatever I’m doing is working for him. He’s actually getting into his faith and enjoying it. Apparently, going on a conference that will help him with his faith is more important to him than his social phobia.
Tonight my prayer is for this kid, and any other kid really, that I may have touched in some way and not even realized it.
