Chris' prayer: Paul Colman's "The One Thing"

I really like this song. I like the repetitiveness of the verses, with Colman singing about all of the things he has questioned in his life, and I like the consistent repetitive beat. My favorite part is the refrain, though. It reminds me of being a child.

When I would fall and scrape my knee, or bruise my shin or my arm, or get a lump on my head, I would run to my parents. I would tell them all about what was wrong, knowing that they alone had the magic whatever that would make it all better. And after spilling out my guts to them, all I wanted was to be held for a little while. I had told them what happened, and they had told me that I was going to make it, but what really reassured me each time was those moments of being held.

It is the same with this song. We come before God not sure of much of anything at all, but through His grace, we are able to know that He is consistent, He is eternal. And knowing that, all that is left for us is to be held in the arms of our maker.
