Junior Asparagus: Hey Mom
Mom Asparagus: Yes sweetheart
Junior Asparagus: Just checking
I love how Junior just checks to make sure his mom is nearby... you never know when you’re going to need your mom.
More than once this past weekend, I needed my mom. First time I needed her - About 1:30am Sunday morning, my part of town (and apparently, just my neighborhood) got hit with a bad storm. Wave 1 brought pea sized hail. Wave 2 brought up to golf ball sized hail. Pretty sure it was wave 2 that damaged my car. Completely shattered the back window, among other things. My first thought upon seeing my car was to call my mom, she’ll know what to do. And you know, she did! Second time I needed her - while looking at my bank account this morning, I noticed 4 pending transactions, all with today’s date. Due to my car, I didn’t go anywhere today. First thing I do, call my mom! You know, she knew what to do again, call the number on the back of the card! Duh, why didn’t I think of that? Thankfully, I’ve been able to remember 3 of the 4. Apparently, transactions from Friday on aren’t posted until Monday. And I apparently forgot about my weekend spendings. Point of the stories - moms are great. They always know what to do!
I think too often I forget about my spiritual momma - Mary. I mean, sure, I pray an occasional Rosary, occasional Hail Mary. But less formal prayer - not really. Why is it that it’s so easy to run to my real mom, but not so for my spiritual mom?
Dear Mary, please be with me through the night and tomorrow as I attempt to drive to work. Amen.
