I look through the haze...
I will never be afraid
This morning, I headed into work prepared for a day full of work (starting at 10:30am). (: About an hour after showing up, through talking with my co-workers, I hear 4-5 inches of snow is on its way to us - supposed to arrive around noon. We decide to have an early lunch so Father can get out early for his meetings and so I can leave for home. About half way through lunch, the snow starts falling. Gently at first. After lunch and dishes, I quickly go downstairs to pack up multiple things so I can work from home. By the time I get outside to go home, there is a small dusting on the roads. Not much, just enough to make them a little slippery.
I don’t really like driving in show. I hate it actually. So the thought of driving home (through some twisty, hilly roads) while it’s snowing and with slick roads was a little scary for me. And to top it off, it was also foggy! So I did the only thing I could think of - I started praying. (Obviously, I made it home alive). Oddly, after I stared praying is when the roads started looking clearer. When I started praying is when the fog lifted up. When I started praying is when all the fear about driving back home and the frustration at myself for not checking the forecast left me. Now that I think about it - all the times I can remember where God answered my prayers immediately is when: a) it was bad weather that I was driving through and b) when all I did was ask for God’s help - I didn’t ask for the fog to go away, I didn’t ask for the roads to clear up, I just asked for God to help me get home and to just be with me.
Maybe that’s the secret of getting your prayers answered - not asking for specific things but just asking God to be with you. Dear God, please be with me tonight as I sleep and tomorrow as I attempt to work from home.
