Don't worry about others or where you came from
It ain't what you were, it's what you have become
I really like the above lines. Others’ thoughts or our past don’t matter in the world of today. Every day is a new day and we learn and we grow and are shaped and we become different from we were the day before. At Confirmation class yesterday, I was faced with a room full of people who feel the opposite. Granted, I haven’t gotten the chance to really know these kids that well yet. But, I would say the majority of the teens are stuck in the “I’m ok with where I am.” When faced with the possibility of stretching and growing and learning even more about their faith, they met it with resistance. I hate to group them together, but they feel that where they were in their faith in 2nd grade is enough for them today. I’m not quite sure how I can get this mentality to change. How to show them that there’s a much bigger world out there and it’s not all that scary, in fact, it’s pretty amazing. Dear Jesus, please help me. This Confirmation class is proving more difficult than I originally planned on.
