When I think of the word "imagine," I usually think of something made up or untrue. Imaginary tales, imaginary monsters, imaginary everything. Usually it is all fake. What I enjoy most about this song, though, is that the singer is stripping away all that is fake so that she can see who she really is. Without all that excess baggage, all that hurt, all that pain, she can finally see the person God made her to be. The "me" in the song is the true "me," the "me" that God means for us to be. And it is not something unobtainable, not something "imaginary" with the typical definition. That "me" is real. I hope to see me like that someday.
