I love the end of this song, when the lyrics "we give you glory" and "alle alleluia alle alleluia" are sung on top of each other. One of the songs I sang at Encounter last night had a similar style, singing multiple sets of lyrics at the same time.
I think I like this so much because it reminds me of my own prayer life in some ways. When I sit down just to talk to God, I have so many different things I want to say to Him, they start to overlap. I jump from one thing to another, never really completing a thought because my mind becomes preoccupied with something new I want to talk to God about.
When we sing songs in this style, it is as though we are multi tasking - sending up two prayers but at the exact same time. Not that I am in a rush to finish my prayer, but sometimes it just seems that I have so much that I need to get out that trying to do it one at a time seems impossible.
Tonight I pray for the patience and stamina to make it through all of my prayers before I fall asleep, or I pray for the ability to have multiple layers of prayers going just like we do when we sing multiple verses at the same time.
