Chris' prayer: Kirk Franklin's "Let It Go"

I often count as blessings that I never got in real trouble when I was young. I never got mixed up with drugs or alcohol, was never truant at school, didn't get into any trouble with the law. I count as blessings that I grew up in a household supported by a mother and a father, with two sisters as well to show me God's Love. I knew from the beginning that spirituality and having a relationship with God was important, and something I needed. My youth was a lot different than the life Franklin sings about in this song.

But no matter how different, the chorus of this song still resonates as true when I hear it. No matter how wonderful or perfect my childhood, we all have things we struggle with. We all have our demons. And the chorus' song of release, of letting go, rings true for those things. A desperate need to let go of my sins and to turn to God, crying out to Him.
