Megan's prayer: Matt Maher's "Canticle of Zechariah"

For the past two weeks, on days when the fog isn't too bad, I have had the chance to see the sunrise. While this isn't a voluntary thing, I'm trying to make the most of these early mornings. I've blogged about sunsets plenty of times, and how they mean so much to me. Well, I'm finding that sunrises produce a similar feeling in me.
The dawn breaks upon us with tender compassion

I love this line of the song. It seems to describe perfectly a sunrise. Unlike turning on lights in a dark room, which causes my eyes to hurt because of the drastic change, the dawn breaks slowly, allowing us to warm up to the idea of more light. God doesn't just want to spring on us this new day, but rather allow us to ease into it slowly, having a chance to reflect on His love. These sunrises are a precious gift, and I'm going to make the most of them.
