Megan's prayer: Jars of Clay's "Sing"

Though it makes no sense to me, it makes we want to sing

Yesterday I talked about wanting to show the face of Jesus to others more often, particularly to my classmates, and today I was presented with the perfect opportunity.

When it comes to talking about LifeTeen and the work I do there, I am not shy about it. I gladly share with others how important it is to me, but normally the conversation ends there. Today was different. As I was studying with a fellow classmate for an exam tomorrow, out of the blue she asked me about the youth group. She wanted to know why I joined it. She wanted to know what we did, what I got out of it. She wanted to know what I did as a CORE member. She wanted to know what I wasn't a "weird kid" like the people she claims to normally associate with youth groups.

This was my chance! I told her everything about it. I shared with her why I loved it so much, what we did, and how (despite her stereotype) I'm not *that* weird.. (: I had the chance to show the face of Jesus to her, and it felt great.

She admitted that, although Catholic, she was completely in the dark about what youth groups were. She didn't really understand why people spent so much time with them. At the end of our discussion, she admitted that she still didn't fully understand the concept, but that it sounded like a good time. She even said that she was going to check out to see if she could get involved in any of them in her own hometown over Christmas break.

What a great day. What an awesome opportunity to spread my faith and beliefs to those I thought were least likely to be interested in hearing about them.
