Christ Jesus the KingKing of all Kings
Today was my first full day back after NCYC (National Catholic Youth Conference). The theme this year was "Christ Reigns" going with the theme of the weekend - Christ the King. I had been anticipating this past weekend since I started working at the diocese in January. The anticipation grew in July when I suddenly became the group leader for my parish. This conference has been the cause of most of my stress these past few months. There was so much planning and so much work that had to go into this.
But all the work and stress was totally worth it! The weekend went by really fast - hard to believe it's over. Things didn't always go as planned, or as good as they could have gone. But over all it was an amazing weekend. Great bonding time with my teens. One of my favorite parts of the entire conference was the closing Mass. We sat near the very top of the sprint center, holding about 18,000 people, including 7 bishops, over 100 priests and about 50 seminarians and an overflow room holding another 4,000 people! For the first time the whole weekend, all the flashy items were turned off, no glow in the dark things out and there was complete silence.
Today I'm praying for the roughly 24,000 people who attended this conference, especially my teens.
