When, When I think about all my blessings
I'm telling you God's been good to me

In just a few minutes, the date will change and it will be November 26, 2009. Thanksgiving.

I have much to be thankful for. Far more than I could ever type on this blog. But I did want to take a second to mention one particular blessing that has come into my life since the last time there was a whole day dedicated to giving thanks. That blessing is this blog.

For almost one year now, I have been praying a song nearly every weekday. This simple act, which takes no more than 20 or 25 minutes of my day, has deepened my prayer life. I find myself more reflective on the gifts that I have, the blessings, and the struggles and shortcomings. All in all, it serves as a daily reminder of where my faith life is. I can see, from day to day, where my strong days were, where my weak days were and all the days in between. I can see when I am fully relying on God, and other days when I am merely paying lip service to that. It has helped keep me accountable spiritually.

It hasn't always been easy. Some days, there are just other things I want to do, and would very much like to not have to do this. Despite that, it has been a blessing and I'm telling you, God's been good to me.
