Chris' prayer: Jars of Clay's "The Eleventh Hour"

In time will I be what you're thinking of?
In their songs, Jars of Clay uses a lot of child-like imagery. This song contains one of my favorites and, I believe, one of the most powerful: the desire to please those we look up to, those whose love we want in our lives. That can be seen through this lyric.

But I also see another side: that I am not currently what God wants from me. There might be pieces that look right, at times I may be following Him well, but ultimately, there is some change that needs to happen. In time, will I be the vessel of love God created me to be? That is my challenge.

I am ready for Advent and the upcoming Christmas Season. It will provide me with the opportunity to answer that question, to take that challenge, to draw closer to Him. It will give me that opportunity to be child-like once again, to try to please my Father.
