Katie's prayer: Jars of Clay's "Something Beautiful"

I love being Catholic! A few weeks back I went to a Theology of the Body for Teens training. I was reminded during this song of one of the things that separate Catholics from other Christians that the speaker talked about. Some of the other Christian groups believe that the blood of Jesus just covers us, so when God looks down, He doesn't see us and our sinfulness, He sees the blood of Jesus. That we're basically snow-covered dung. (Personally, I don't like that image.) While Catholics believe that, through confession, we are changed from the inside out. That doesn't mean we aren't still sinful. But for those like 2 seconds after confession (you know, until we sin again) we are beautiful and perfect in God's eye. That's what I thought of when I heard "change this something normal into something beautiful." That's basically what we're asking God when we go to confession. Dear God, make me beautiful.
Recently, I've felt a tiny twinge to go to confession. But, like always, I make excuses. I'm too busy to go to confession. I don't even know when other parishes have their confession. I can't go to my parish right now because the priest is out of town. But God is in amazingness finds little ways (like this song) to push me even more, to try and push past those stupid excuses.

Loved your analysis, Katie. I may have to use this for a confession talk sometime. d-:
