Today I got to attend a movie (To Save a Life) for free because I'm a youth minister. (AMAZING, btw, the movie, not the free part. Ok the free part too.) And, without giving away the whole movie, I saw this kid slowly change from being a kid that cared about basketball scholarships, his girlfriend and where the next party was to wanting to learn more and more about God. And the more he learned, the more he tried to help those around him. The more he began to care less about drinking parties, and more about the people around him. Truly living the Gospel. Reaching out to the lonely, inviting his girlfriend, and anyone really, to go to Church with him, asking God for help. He made it seem easy to follow those "basic instructions." I came away from the movie wanting to do that. Wanting to be just like the youth minister in the movie. Wanting to be like the kid, changing the lives of those around me. I just pray I have the strength and courage to do so.

Katie's prayer: Burlap to Cashmere's "Basic Instructions"
As Chris mentioned, the first words of this song are Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth (BIBLE!). It's so true. The Bible has very simple rules for how to live. Love God with all your heart, mind, and soul. And love your neighbor as yourself. Very simple, very basic, not very easy though. Especially that second one.
