Chris' prayer: Matt Maher's "For Your Glory"

Community is so important when it comes to spirituality. Having someone to walk with me on my journey has made the bad times bearable and the good times even better. It is nice to have someone to pray with, to celebrate with, to commiserate with, to learn from, to teach, and to just share my story and hear theirs. I absolutely could not imagine doing this alone. Being on that road with many, many other people means everything to me.

And yet, spirituality, and the choice to follow Christ, is an intensely personal thing. I am the one who must say "yes." I am the one who must pick up my cross and carry it. Today's song emphasizes the dichotomy between the community and the personal. The verses speak about how we humbly seek Him, our offering, and how we can love only because of Him. But the refrain speaks to the personal declaration, the individual choice, that each of us must make on our own: Everything I am is for Your glory.

Lord, help me make that declaration for my life each and every day.
