Chris' prayer: Jars of Clay's "Hymn"

When I started this blog, the whole point was to work my way through my music collection and let the songs speak to me, and in particular, the ones I hadn't really paid attention to beforehand. Count this as one of those songs that I'd missed, or skipped over, every time it would play.

Some of my favorite Christian songs are the ones that encourage me to give thanks and to praise Him even in the difficult times. It is not that I've had the most difficult life, or that my suffering is particularly harsh– if I'm being honest, I've had a pretty easy life, all things considered. But we all have our stressors, all have the things that bring us down. Just this morning, in fact, I let a couple of things get to me that I really shouldn't have, and it caused my morning to sour.

Tonight's song, with that message– that we still need to praise Him when it isn't easy– coupled with the "lullaby" melody, make it the perfect song to end the day. I suppose that is just another reason why I should always be praising– because He always knows just what I need.
