Chris' prayer: Brenton Brown's "Lord, Reign in Me"

I will forever equate this song with the last night of the Steubenville conference I attended this summer, not because this song was played during the evening (it wasn't), but because of the word "reign." The plan that evening was to think about the things that we struggle with handing over to God and to actually take those, in written form, and place them underneath the cross of the Monstrance. The youth minister leading the night must have said the word "reign" a hundred times, and in a powerful and convicted way. He was sure that that is what he wanted God to do. "Lord, REIGN over my relationship with my wife. Lord, REIGN over my busy-ness. Lord, REIGN over my struggles with pain."

It was a powerful talk, and one that motivated everyone to figure out the things in their lives that God could reign over, and then to turn those over to Jesus at the cross. I was fortunate enough to lead the evening's closing prayer. It was rather easy to hand over to God what I was struggling with after spending an entire weekend in His presence, hearing about how awesome His power is, and how He can reign above all. But much harder to come back to St. Louis, to come back to work, and family, and other responsibilities, and *still* tell Him to reign in my life.

So my prayer for tonight is the same prayer I prayed that last night– a prayer for continued strength, continued reliance on Him, hopefully resulting in continuing to let Him reign in my life.
