Some of us do the best we can.I took a class this past semester called "Assessing Classroom Performance." Basically, it was how to grade students. One of the big topics we discussed was whether you should give credit for effort. One one hand, if a student tries really hard, but just isn't grasping the concept, do you really give a bad grade cause they just aren't smart enough? Or do you reward kids just for trying, having them get passing grades even in subjects they don't understand?
Although I'm still unsure as to what my philosophy is on grading, I think I need to be a little more aware of the effort people put into their faith life, especially the teens in lifeteen.
When I look at my own faith, I think that I'm normally on the right track. Granted, I'm not anywhere near Mother Teresa, but I do the best I can. I think I might be too quick to judge others, thinking they aren't serious about their faith, when in fact, they are doing the best they can. We are all made differently, we all express our faith differently. In the end, I think it is the effort that really counts.
