You'll find it inside the best of us.
I'm currently
reading Michael Yaconelli's Dangerous Wonder with a few of the
teens at church in a small group setting. We read a chapter or two a
week, and then discuss what we've read, how our lives are going, what
we are struggling with, and how we feel. So far it has been a great
experience, and one I'm hoping they are enjoying as well.
Anyway, the point of the book thus far is that Christianity, as it is
often lived, has become boring and monotonous. This monotony exists
despite what Christianity calls us to. Christianity seeks to,
as Yaconelli says, completely change our lives, not to just enhance
them. Living a truly Christian life, and fully relying on the
redemptive power of Christ's sacrifice, is dangerous stuff, but
something that must happen if we are going to truly live. This means
asking all the "wrong" questions, breaking all the "rules," and
stepping outside the current paradigm.
This song echoes that sentiment. We are instilled, deep within us,
with a call to live a dangerous life. My hope is that, after listening
to this song, and reading this book, that I will afford myself the
opportunity to take more chances with my faith, to trust in God a
little more.
