Katie's prayer: Big Dismal's "Rainy Day"

Love
It keeps us hanging on
Even when all hope is gone

Today, I watched a documentary on the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka. The more I watched, the angrier I became at these people. They are giving Christians a bad name. Doing things that Jesus wouldn’t have done. And doing it all in such a public way that they are known around the entire world. And from what I saw in the documentary, there’s no talking any sense to them. They believe what they are doing is right and what God wants. Nearing the end, I had all this anger towards this group, and totally unaware of what to do with it. Then one of the closing remarks by another pastor got my attention (and then reaffirmed in tonight’s song). This man said “Phelps is a man that needs love the most, but deserves it the least.” It’s not my job to hate him. He’s still a child a God. He may be doing some pretty messed up things. (But then again, who isn’t?) The only thing I’m left doing is praying for this man and his congregation, hoping that some day, they will see the light.
