Katie's prayer: Jason Upton's "Gideon"

I lift my eyes toward the heavens
I tune my ear to your command

Part of my penance last night was to meditate for a couple minutes on the vine and the branches parable and that we just need to be connected to Jesus to do anything right. (I don’t know what this priest was thinking, he knew I’m spiritually ADD!) Anyway, since then, I’ve been thinking a lot about that, and how I can better keep connected to God and how I can better bring Him into what I’m doing to make it more about Him and less about me. Through some conversation tonight, and reading a friend’s blog and stalking her parish’s website to see what she does for Confirmation, I’ve gotten a lot of good ideas. Ideas on things I can say to the kids, things I can make them do, etc. to help them make their Confirmation time more meaningful for them. It’s amazing how just being aware of the fact that you constantly need to be tuned to God can bring all these great ideas that will (hopefully) help the kids. Dear God, help me to always keep that connection with you. Help me to make it all about you and not about me. Push my ideas away so Your ideas can come through. Amen.
