Megan's prayer: Hillsong's "Shout to the Lord"

When I first saw what tonight's song was I thought "Oh, I know this song!" I hit play, and was instantly surprised by what I heard. Although it was the same song I knew from church, it started off with a very different pace. Hillsong starts out nice and slow - really focusing on each word. I tried to sing along, but couldn't slow down as much as I needed to.

Maybe this should make me think about how I approach life. I have a long to-do list, so I'm always trying to rush through things in a hurry and get stuff done. Sitting through such a slow song started out almost a torture, but I very quickly saw how much I needed this. I need to slow down. I need to focus more on the words and understand really what the song is saying.

This is an absolutely necessary idea for me to learn as I start to think about the upcoming retreat. With a whole retreat about the Our Father, I need to learn how to slow down when I pray that and really think about what the words mean to me.
