I will wait for youIt may not sound like it, but this is a pretty powerful line. We do not wait in this country, in the culture we have today. Everything is instant gratification. We are concerned with doing things faster, going somewhere quicker, and with doing more things at once. Emphasis is on the individual and the now.
And when you choose to wait for someone, it is flipping that on its head. Emphasis goes from being about one's self to the other person. It is saying, you are important. I will stop what I'm doing for you. And emphasis also goes from the now to the future. It is saying, the future is more important than what I could be doing now.
I think I need to learn to wait better. To be patient and trusting in what (and who) is to come. It is hard to push back against the culture of immediacy and gratification, but I feel like it is something that can really offer much benefit.
