Megan's prayer: Twila Paris' "How Beautiful"

I absolutely love this song. It is probably my favorite Church song of all time. There is one time that we sang this song in Church that still sticks out to me. It was 4 years ago, and this song was played during Communion. As always, my mind was running wild as I was distracted by things going on around me, but this time it is the distractions that made it such a memorable moment.
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

During this line of the song, I happened to catch a different scene during each repetition of "how beautiful."
How beautiful

I happened to look next to me and see one of my fellow lifeteen friends belting out this song. This was someone who normally didn't sing, but this time they were giving it everything they had.
How beautiful

I looked over near the choir, and saw a lady pushing up a wheelchair in the communion line. I assume it was her mother or grandmother who was in the wheelchair, and between the two of them, I have never seen a more joyful pair of people. The lady in the wheelchair was clearly not focused on her handicap, but rather the excitement of receiving Jesus.
How beautiful

And lastly, my favorite thing that I saw during this song was a little girl and her mom walking up to receive Communion. The little girl was too young to receive Communion, but this didn't dampen her excitement. She was pulling her mom as fast as she could forward in the line, unable to wait her turn.
Is the body of Christ

As soon as they got to the front, and the mother received the Eucharist from the priest, the little girl just stopped and stared at the priest. She had stopped moving and fidgeting - clearly she knew that she had made it where she so eagerly was trying to get to.

It was really a touching time. So touching that I even wrote a paper about it for my theology class - a paper that I still have today and read occasionally. It's moments like this that I am sure that God loves me and is showing me through all of these little moments.
