Katie's prayer: Tree63's "Sacrifice"
I had a hard time listening to this song, because like half the song uses that Lenten taboo word. I remember one year when I was little, at school, they put the word on a big poster board then locked it away in a chest. Signifying that we’re not supposed to say that word during Lent. Kinda an odd thing to abstain from but I also really like it. Here’s why: it makes it so much more meaningful and so much more worth it when you sing it on Easter Sunday. And it’s just another one of those things where you learn throughout Lent, the importance of it and the specialness of it, and what it really means when you say it. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll have that awe inspiring meaning this Easter. I have grown accustomed to listening to the Christian radio station in town. It’s really good for me, and allows me to pray on my way to and from work. But I’ve noticed like every other song, just like this song, uses the A-word (: (sometimes spelled with a “H”) And really, I don’t realize it until after singing along for quite a while. I hope that even with the occasional slip-up (mainly not my fault but the radio’s, or in this case, Chris’) that when Easter comes and we all joyously sing it together that it still becomes a more meaningful experience for me.
