Chris' prayer: D.C. Talk's "Consume Me"

There are really two different sides to this song. In the chorus, Toby McKeehan sings about how God consumes Him. God is working in this instance. But in the second verse, he immerses himself in God. McKeehan is working in this instance.

The point is this. We cannot sit around and wait to be consumed by God. Nor can we do all the work without God affecting us. There is a relationship there that must be approached from both ends- making the effort and being open to the change that God wishes to see. As I prepare for a retreat this weekend, I hope that I'm able to keep this in mind, and be willing to give my all, to hold up my end of this bargain, and to trust that God will hold up His, and consume me, too.
