Katie's prayer: Matt Maher's "Canticle of Zechariah"

I was introduced to this song while at Camp Covecrest. I think I instantly fell in love with it. It's got a nice beat, catchy refrain, you know, it's easy to like. Which is a good thing, because this song was played lots! By mid-way through the first week, I think I had it all memorized. The last week of camp, I remember the whole group was together for some reason (like Adoration, or before a talk or something) and we were singing this song. For some reason I stopped singing and listened...
For from You, and through You, and for You are all things.
Maybe it was the sleep deprivation getting to me, but I didn't understand what that meant. Was it even proper english? Was it even a sentence? And I realized then that the whole time, I was singing along mindlessly to this song, that I never realized what that line meant. And since I didn't own the song (or the funds to buy the song), I never heard it again after camp, until today. And today, it seems so simple... Everything is from God, so we should be thankful for everything (even things that might at the time seem bad). Everything is through God, so at every moment, we should be involving God (if that makes sense). Everything is for God, so I think the way I look at this is that everything you do for other people it's like you're doing it for God. So to bring up my favorite Mother Teresa quote, "Everyone of them is Jesus in disguise." So now every time I hear this song, I'm going to be reminded of the real meaning (or at least Katie's take-away-meaning) of this song. Treat others like you'd treat God, be thankful for everything, and always involve God in every part of your life keeping Him always on your mind.
