Chris' prayer: Jump5's "When I Say Your Name"

Today was a really good day for me. Nothing specifically wonderful happened, either at work, or afterwork. In fact, it was a pretty normal day. But for some reason, I just felt really loved today. I was in a good mood all day, and was just really able to feel how much God loves me, whether I was in Adoration, or during Open Gym with the teens at church, during the planning meeting for the youth ministry program, or just sitting at my desk. Everything just felt right.

I don't have a ton of Jump5 music. In fact, I think that this is the last remaining song, and now they are all prayed. But what an appropriate day to finish them off. Jump5's music always puts me in a good mood, and to cap off a great day with such a fun song just further show's God's Love to me.

Jen's prayer: Jump 5's "When I Say Your Name"

And now I know You
are all I need
You're everything that's right
Here in my life
Right now, Jesus is about the only thing that is right in my life. I'm going through a lot of stuff right now and I think in the midst of all this confusion I need to remember the power of coming to this stillness and just saying "Jesus". He is all I need right now and it's something I'm continually reminding myself daily.

Catie's prayer: Jump5's "When I Say Your Name"

Last night my roommate and I got talking about how cool it would be if when people saw us, they're like God is good because they could see God working through us. Not in a woah, look at us kind of way, but in the way that we are humbly as Christians suppose to reflect God to those around us. I forget who said this but someone once said, if Catholics truly lived like Christ did, the entire world would be Catholic. And it's so true. If we are truly living the Christian life, Christ will shine through us. It is the best way we can love God back and to truly compliment him for all he has done for us.
With all I have
My heart, my soul, my mind
I'll love You back until the end of time
Now and forevermore
I will be Yours

Katie's prayer: Jump5's "When I Say Your Name"

There's something I never noticed about my life until I heard this song.
Right before I go to bed, I begin a conversation with Jesus, telling him about my day. (Even though He already knows about it, cause, hi, He's God!) My conversation always starts out the same way - with "Jesus" and then a slight pause. During that pause, it doesn't matter what I was feeling or thinking before lying down, I immediately feel peace. Just saying the name "Jesus" causes me to feel calm. I never really noticed that feeling before. And I think I kinda take that for granted. But no more!
When I say Your name
You know my heart feels lighter
No matter what I'm going through
When I say Your name
You know the world gets brighter
That's what Your love can do
With all I have

Megan's prayer: Jump5's "When I Say Your Name"

The follow is the first part of today’s prayanewsong – “When I Say Your Name” by Jump5
The way you love me
It’s been changing me
And now I know you are all I need
You’re everything that’s right
Here in my life
When I heard the first few lines of today’s song, I instantly thought about how I have been changed by love in my current relationship. It wasn’t until near the end of the song that I realized it wasn’t talking about the love that another person has for me, but rather about the love that God has for me.

The following is the first part of one of my favorite R&B songs – “Differences” by Ginuwine
My whole life has changed
Since you came in, I knew back then
You were that special one
I’m so in love, so deep in love
You make my life complete
You are so sweet, no one competes
Glad you came into my life
You blind me with your love, with you I have no sight.
Each and every time I hear this song, I instantly think about God’s love for me. It isn’t until over halfway through the song that it becomes clear that this song is about the love between two people.

On the surface, these songs seem to be very different - one song is about God’s love for me, the other song is about the love of a girl. Yet, in the end, they seem so alike.

Maybe they are alike. Maybe all love comes from God – the love between a parent and child, the love between a couple, the love you have for your friends. Maybe they are each just a reflection of God’s love. Maybe I'm finally starting to understand what love really is.
