Make them feel wanted, make them feel whole
Earlier this evening, I read this blog about love. Let me just quote some of it for you...
It is through children that I am able to see what God sees. Think about this. Think about the way that you look at little babies, especially newborns. Think about the way that you look at every inch of their body. The way that you gaze at them. The way that you are so delicate with them. The way that you talk about them. The way that you caress them, hold them, comfort them. Think about that. I have news my friends. The way that we look at babies is the same way that Jesus looks at us. Now that's a thought. We see babies as beautiful and wonderful little creatures. God looks at us the same way.
I love her thoughts here. I can easily imagine how I treat and feel towards little babies. And it’s easy to picture God having those same feelings towards me. It’s a great analogy. But as I was reading this, I was thinking beyond this thought too, maybe it’s because I already started listening to tonight’s song. I began to think, if this is the way we treat and feel towards babies - why not others? I mean, besides age, what’s the difference between a baby and that guy on the street corner? that kid in youth group that can be annoying? that parent that hates me? random people I pass in the store, on the road, etc? There’s really no difference. They are all still children of God. God still feels the same way about them. So what’s my problem?
Every excuse I can come up with becomes null and void when I compare it to this analogy. I don’t know that person... I also don’t know those adorable twins on youtube. He can act so childish sometimes... so do babies, but when they do it, it’s adorable. They hate me... my cousin’s daughter (2 or 3 at the time) hated my grandma, grandma still loved her.
In the song, the above lyrics are actually part of a prayer. But tonight, I really feel that God is telling this to me, instead of the other way around. Everyone’s job in life is to make others know the love of God. The number 1 way of doing that, showing them how much you love and care for them. Despite not knowing them, despite how they behave, and despite how they feel towards you. Tonight’s mission - show others God’s love.
