Katie's prayer: Hillsong United's "An Introduction"

I’m really starting to dislike this song. Just like the title alludes to, it’s an introduction to a song. All you hear is the introduction - not the song. THe most frustrating part, it’s a good introduction, really makes me want to listen to the song! It starts of pretty quiet then slowly builds and builds and builds and then kinda levels and sounds like it’s about to go into the lyric part and the end.

My problem is that I’m not really enjoying the introduction - I’m looking forward to what comes after the introduction. I feel like I get caught in the trap in my life too. I’m reminded by a quote from camp - “If you worry about the future, you can’t truly enjoy the present.” Lately, I’ve been so focused on the future, that I’m not really enjoying the present - not even paying attention to it half the time. Today, I took a break from that. Instead of working on a bazillion other things - I sat out in the sun - I enjoyed the present. And it felt great!

Dear Jesus, help me to see those times when I need to slow down to enjoy the present. Help me to not always be looking to the future. Amen.
