Katie's prayer: Rascal Flatts' "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"

On Christmas, I talked a little about seeing the Nativity story in a whole new light. I got to experience some more of that tonight. Almost the entire song is focused on the shepherds and their experience. I think it’s just so amazing. God comes to us as a “nobody.” Not even able to have a place for him in the city, he’s in a feeding trough. Then, He decides to let the first people (beyond Mary and Joseph) to see baby Jesus be shepherds, some more nobodies. Everything I’m reading and have heard in the past tell me that shepherds were pretty low on the totem pole back then. Yet, this is who God decides to reveal Himself too. Pretty smart move on His part. If He cared enough about those “nobodies” then chances are, He cares enough about this “nobody” too. So those days when it feels like I’ve been forgotten about (cause, like going back to yesterday, things aren’t going my way), I can remember that God still loves me, God still cares about me, and there’s NO WAY that God has forgotten about me.
