Chris' prayer: Chris Tomlin's "Holy is the Lord"

anthem
After the day I've had today, and particularly the evening, which was spent in the company of my girlfriend's family, a collection of wonderful people who care for me very much, an anthem was exactly what I wanted to hear. Usually, when I think of the word anthem, at least outside of the national variety, I think of the common definition of the word; that is, a rousing or uplifting song identified with a particular group, body, or cause. And what a great, rousing, uplifting song this is. It makes me want to sing at the top of my lungs!

But what I don't normally think of, and it is because I'd never even heard of this definition of anthem before looking it up for the blog tonight, is the alternate definition: a choral composition based on a biblical passage, for singing by a choir in a church service. Huh. How about that. This song is a perfect anthem, by both definitions, to end the day with.
