Megan's prayer: Jars of Clay's "He"

Daddy, don't you love me?
Then why do you hit me?
Momma don't you love me
Then why do you hurt me?
Having spent an hour watching a presentation on child abuse prevention today, these lyrics really stuck out to me. It makes me so sad to learn about children being abused, and I wonder why anyone could do that to a child.

One thing I've been thinking about as my job gets closer to starting is how I am going to bring my faith and God into my public school setting. Although I can't talk explicitly about my faith, one thing I can do is love the kids in my classroom. I can show them God's love through me. I can be the caring adult in their lives if they happen to come from an abusive family. Just because I can't talk about God doesn't mean He can't be present in my classroom.
