Megan's prayer: Steve Curtis Chapman's "For the Sake of the Call"

Nobody stood and applauded them
So they knew from the start
This road would not lead to fame

Unlike this song, I thought that answering God's call and spreading the good news might lead to people standing and applauding me. When I first started on the CORE team, I thought that I would be greatly impacting people's lives daily, and would be able to see how I was changing the world. I expected people to share with me their appreciation for the time I contributed to LifeTeen.

It didn't take me long to realize that isn't how things go when answering God's call. Although I spend a significant amount of time working on LifeTeen things, there isn't a whole crowd that seeks me out to thank me and to recognize my hard work. Much of my work I'm sure goes unnoticed.

For awhile this bugged me. I wanted to feel appreciated for what I did, I wanted some sort of recognition for the work that I did. Slowly I began to understand what this song was telling me all along. This road that I'm on does not lead to fame. I am called to serve God, and love the teens I work with, and I am called to do all of this without expecting to be constantly patted on the back. I am not doing this for the praise, but am doing it out of love.
