Megan's prayer: Matt Redman's "You Never Let Go"

And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth

At lunch today, I was talking with a friend about how life never seems to get easier. Not that this is a bad thing, but life just gets progressively busier as we get older. I look forward to all of the things still to come in my life: a full time job, someday getting married, perhaps having some kids. I know all of these things bring about many great opportunities, but they bring their fair share of work.

Back when I was a freshman at UD, my favorite psychology teacher shared some pretty good insight with the class. She told us that life isn't supposed to be easy. Life is a struggle, it's hard to deal with sometimes, change is always happening. The key to being happy is to find the joy in those hard times. To surround yourself with people who are there for you, and make the "hard times" still enjoyable. She believed that if you look hard enough, you can find good in every situation.

I think her words have really helped me the past few years. While they might sound a bit cynical and depressing, it has shown me that it's normal for life to be rough sometimes. Everyone goes through hard times, and it's how you grow and learn from these hard times that shape what kind of person we are.

I think the "end to the troubles" that the song talks about is Heaven. We can't expect 100% peace here on Earth, but instead we will have to find that when we have once again met up with God in Heaven. Until that time, we need to do all we can to bring Heaven to earth, and love those around us.
