Chris' prayer: Matt Maher's "Love Comes Down"

Bending low to wash His traitor's feet
This is another one of those "Intellectually, I knew this, but it never really dawned on me" cases. I knew that Judas was there when the Last Supper was occurring, and I knew that Jesus washed the feet of His disciples. But I don't think I ever realized that He washed the feet of the one who was to betray Him. And He did so with both love and compassion.

I can't imagine washing the feet of someone who I knew was going to betray me. I could perhaps be forced to do it. But even then, there would be neither love nor compassion. There would be anger, resentment, frustration.

I'm glad that Jesus is better at this than I am. Because He washes my feet, too, looking up at me, and seeing the same thing- someone who has betrayed Him. But He isn't mad and He doesn't resent me. He loves me. How great is that!
