What if I climbed that mountain,
What if I swam to that shore,
What if every battle was victorious
Then would you love me more?
Would you love me more?
I just started reading the book "Soul Cravings" by Erwin Raphael McManus this afternoon. I made it through the first 14 "entries" of the book, and one of the things that stood out was a part about the unconditional love of God. It said something to the extent of we do so many things so that God will love us more, but in reality, we don't have to win God's love. He gives it freely. This is such a difficult concept for me to grasp, but the song tonight seemed to help make it a little more clear. Of course God won't love me more if I climb a mountain, or swim to a shore, or any of the other things listed in the song. No amount of acts or deeds that I do for God will make Him love me more. There is no way to increase love that is unconditional.
