Chris' prayer: Jadon Lavik's "What if?"

I was reading a book today during adoration. The book is called "Soul Cravings" and, so far, seems to be about how we desire, in the deepest way, to love and be loved. It is at the very heart of who we are.

In the book, the author makes a point which I think is so true, and is reflected in tonight's song. He says that we are far more comfortable with conditional love- a love that we can earn, win, achieve; or waste, lose, fail- than we are the unconditional love that God gives us. In tonight's song, Lavik speaks to that same idea with the questions he asks- "God, what can I do to get you to love me more (or less)?" This unconditional love, this love that is based on who we are and not what we do, is something that is so foreign and unbelievable to us. It doesn't make any sense at all.

Despite not making any logical sense, I feel like, each day, I am growing closer to understanding what God's unconditional love is all about, even if it is just a tiny, tiny, tiny piece of a enormous concept. Songs like tonight's, and books like I'm reading, help me grasp on to that concept just a little bit more.
