By definition, yearn means to lack something, to be un-whole. It seems crazy that God would create us this way- lacking in something, but, according to the first verse, that is exactly how we've been created.
At a recent night up with the youth ministry program, we talked about having a God-shaped hole in ourselves, and though we might try to fill it with other things, it never quite works out. It is God that we need in our lives, to be truly happy, and to be truly holy.
Bernard and Everett are echoing that here. It is by design that we have both this hole in our lives, and the space and time and ability to fill it. We were designed to be reunited with our maker.
