All the world does careA couple weeks ago, as I mentioned in one of my posts, a friend of mine's father passed away. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend both the funeral and the wake. As I arrived at the wake with a couple of other friends, I was taken aback by just how long the line was to share their condolences, see the deceased one last time, and offer up a prayer. The line extended the length of the very long room, and had begun to wrap back to the front. We spent 45 minutes in line before being pulled aside. There was probably another 15 minutes or more to go before we would reach the front.
It was so incredibly clear how much this man was loved and cared for, and how much his family was loved as well. I remember when my mom died, coworkers of my dad's chartered a bus and all arrived together. I think I stood at the front of that line for more than two hours greeting people and accepting their offerings.
I think that, a lot of times, it is easy for me to forget just how many people care about me. Those who want to see me do well, those who are willing and able to show God's love to me in all kinds of different ways far outnumber what I would expect. It is easy to forget that, but is so important to remember. All the world does care about me.
