The road's a different placeWhen the wheel is in your hand.
I remember the first time I drove somewhere by myself after getting my license, Schnucks. A place I had been to many time before. A place I passed every time I went to my mom's office. A place I passed a lot really. But on that one trip, my first trip driving alone, I backed out of the driveway and started driving in the wrong direction. From there, I continued to make wrong turns, taking practically the longest route possible. A drive that should have taken 2 minutes took more like 10.
I learned a valuable lesson that day.... You might know a lot about something, but until you get first hand experience, you can't know everything. And recently, I've been learning that the same is true for youth ministry. I have made a lot of wrong turns in my first trip out. More than I can count. Yesterday was the last day of the first semester and in two weeks, the next semester begins. Hopefully, with this second trip out, there are fewer wrong turns. I really hope, like driving, I'll eventually catch on to this youth ministry thing. And eventually, not make any wrong turns.
