Chris' prayer: Steven Curtis Chapman's "Rubber Meets the Road"

Well, I couldn't reach the pedals, but I could hold on to the wheel
There are two main parts to driving a car, and Chapman has mentioned them both here. You won't get too far if you can't reach the pedals, and you won't go where you want if you don't have your hands on the steering wheel. It is hard to say which is more important.

I feel like, right now, in my spiritual life, I'm doing one of the things rather well, but missing out on the other one. I'm not sure which is which, or which would relate better, but I'm pretty sure that I'm only touching one of them. I feel like, right now in my relationship, I'm putting in a lot of work, a ton more than I would have in the past, but I'm missing the emotional highs that a good relationship carries. I am not feeling that emotional connection with God that usually signifies when the relationship is going well.

I'm hoping that the upcoming (liturgical) Christmas season will change that.
